About
An amazing, amazing event.
We've brought together best-selling authors, highly influential agents, and some of the most important publishers in the country. We've got talks, workshops, courses, pitch sessions, and much more.
It's going to be inspiring, instructive - and should be wonderful fun too. Oh, and there'll be lots of Cloudlings there, so a great place to meet too.

Gerry commented on the Event Festival of Writing, York 2010's wall:We drove out to York Campus today (Friday 16th). RSPB were having a conference. Felt a bit odd, like someone settling into your old house. We walked around the lake, threading back and forth over the bridges, and found the lake begins and ends in a ...

Harry commented on the Event Festival of Writing, York 2010's wall:Just to let everyone know that we've created a Festival of Writing forum on the forums page. It's a bit easier to get discussions going there than on this much graffiti-ed wall. @ Gerry: Roger Ellory has promised to send me that speech. We'll get ...

Gerry commented on the Event Festival of Writing, York 2010's wall:Great to meet Clouders, though my attendance was relatively brief. (Tip: look for John Onceupon's unmistakeable hair; other Clouders likely to be nearby.) Lovely people. R.J. Ellory's parting speech was an anthology of great writing quotes: can ...

by Gerry 4 months agoWe drove out to York Campus today (Friday 16th). RSPB were having a conference. Felt a bit odd, like someone settling into your old house. We walked around the lake, threading back and forth over the bridges, and found the lake begins and ends in a little stream. (It’d have to, really.) More types of geese, ducks, swans, widgeons, coots and weirdoes than we could possibly remember. Warm cloudless sky, but with faint dust haze. (It’s not only birds that fly in.)

Great mates finally met in the flesh after being friends of over a year...not to mention some surprises... hee he and some new friends made too.
Thanks to Harry, Kate, Tommy, Emma, Debi and all those, I have missed out, as a result of brain over load... It was a wonderful weekend and great success for being the first. Certainly a must for any writer, regardless of where you are in your writing.
And I'm certain that there will be another surge of new members on the cloud as a result of the weekend. I know of a handful of people that have said that they will join WC... Shit what more can I say.... just BLOODY AWESOME WEEKEND!!!!! -

@ Gerry: Roger Ellory has promised to send me that speech. We'll get it online asap.
@Carokokos & Rugby Anthony: I know what you mean! Me, I'm knackeredy knackered. -

Ellory's parting speech was an anthology of great writing quotes: can someone persuade him to put it online? Clare Alexander + Emma Darwin/Fiona Shaw - V.G. session on Sunday afternoon - crisp minds, very relaxed but clear and penetrating - that's how to do it.
