About
I'm 35 and live in a Cork suburb. I enjoy reading, walking and meeting my friends in town for coffee and chat and, of course, I enjoy writing too even though I've only really been doing it seriously for about 18 months. In septembe 2008 I just came up with a lot of ideas for a story and have been working on that and others since then. I also write in a few genres and also have done some non fiction articles.
I like science and hope to go to college next year as a mature student. A good degree in maths and physics is one of my main aims. Hope I can do it. I'm not very sporty now but in my teens I liked soccer, swimming and tennis - should really get back into them.On TV I like E.R., Friends, Lost, The Simpsons and Little Britain. Missed out on The Sopranos and The Wire unfortunately. Might get them on DVD. I also listen to radio a lot - music, current affairs, chat. I like film too - who doesn't - and not just sci-fi but any good story. For awhile I tended to go for plot driven stories but I now like good dramas too set in the real world.
When it comes to music I like mostly rock but also some classical and also some dance, particularly trance, eg Robert Miles and BBE. Favourite bands would be U2, Radiohead, REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Flaming lips, The Blue Nile and Coldplay. I haven't travelled much but did manage to get to America and Turkey and would like to do some more. And that's about it for now.

by Sohini 9 months agohey cipher it's fine both ways with me as long as i get to read the reply. it's almost becomes involuntary when we see the comments on our wall we start typing their answers back in the space provided on our own page. i, myself post comments on my own wall and later realise that my friends here in the cloud might want to see it posted on their walls so i just have to go for the copy-paste it on their wall again and delete the comment of mine on my wall. i prefer it that way. it's just your choice!
it's true that philosophy is the subject that makes one think about the things we tend to take for granted. it's give us a scope to look at things from different angles. -
by Cipher 9 months agoNo problem, joe, glad I could help. Even though I'm only an amateur myself I consider philosophy well worth studying because it addresses the big questions that face us all. It doesn't go out of date. Will attempt this year to read more of it.The good thing is that anyone can do it, you just have to make a good argument and can use your own truth and experience to do it. Does help to know the greats though.

by Sohini 9 months agohi cipher, thanks for the reply. m a 11th grader and philosophy is one of my elective subjects. prior to my joining your group i used to think that people consider philosophy to be a dead subject and i, myself did not like studying it either but thanks to you for discussing things that is now making me take a little bit interest in my subject!

by Sohini 9 months agohello cipher, i must say that am a lot impressed with your group deep thought. well, one question i want to ask you each time i visit the group page. did you study philosophy? because i see a close link with the topics introduced by you in the group to that of the things related to the subject. u've made it interesting.

by Philip L Moore 11 months agoHi Everyone,
If you are up for it, I thought we would have a laugh, well that's Tosh and I.
I have up loaded a few pictures from my Utterly Ridiculous Book, so I thought we could have a best caption competition if you are up for it, everyone puts a caption under each of the cartoons and then each person who wants to have some fun, e-mails me at info@philiplmoore.com with whose caption they liked best.
The persons caption that gets the most votes wins all four of my paperbacks, that’s Utterly Ridiculous, Therapy, Eternal Wish and Kez. Starts as from today finishes Monday at 6.00pm.
